Where to stay in Saint Paul

Places to stay in St. Paul sit concentrated in the downtown area. The Lowertown Historic District, which includes some of the city's oldest buildings, makes a particularly attractive option. Hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts here can put you just steps from the Mississippi River, while the greater downtown area also offers apartment rentals and hostels. Staying downtown also puts you within walking distance of most of the city's prime attractions. Additionally, you'll find a handful of national-chain hotels on the east side of town near Interstate 494 / 694.

  • I spent the day looking at microfiche copies of news papers and city directories of St. Paul dating from the the 1860's and 70's. I also looked at maps, pictures and reference books about the same tim...  more »
  • It was crowded with disrespectful children. Coming here during the day was a big mistake. Every exhibition was overtaken by a school group who had no respect for other visitors. Not to mention the act...  more »
  • My kids dragged their feet about going but were pleasantly surprised. We have an 11 and 12 yeast old and there was lots for them to do. This museum has a nice collection, is informative, and has lots ...  more »

  • Went with my BF for the Gridiron Glory exhibit. We had so much fun seeing the history of the sport and exploring the other exhibits! Our teams are rivals and it was fun to fight over that rivalry and see who truly reigns supreme (unfortunately it was him). It is a great place for kids to interact with educational activities and it was interesting enough to keep adults engaged as well.
  • We used the Minnesota History Center as a venue for our wedding about a month ago. The space was absolutely incredible. Our guests were so impressed with everything, and the space made our wedding very special. We would highly recommend the Minnesota History Center for a great wedding experience!
  • Excellent interactive displays. Beautiful building. Very friendly and helpful staff. A good way to learn about the area. The tornado exhibit is a must do. I have never been in a tornado but this interactive exhibit gives you an idea. The sounds, the way the room (basement) moves and the TV set with the news alerts; way kool!
  • This was the best museum I've been to in a long time. The Greatest Generation exhibit was terrific with some great hands-on experience , the world war 1 exhibit was very Illuminating (mind-blowing to think of all that has changed in 100 years). We planned on only being there for 2 hours but that quickly turned into four. Could go back for another four!
  • I went for a special event where they had live music, costumed actors and Kevin Kling entertaining. It was great! Besides all that, we always enjoy the exhibits at the History Center. Good for all ages!
