  • My wife and I attended the Jackson Street Roundhouse on the evening of 04/01/2017 to eat dinner in the Great Northern dining car and to see the play "The Ghost Train" by Arnold Ridley. In my opinion, ...  more »
  • If you are a train-buff, this is a nice place to visit. Many original items to look at. If you go with a train-buff, grab a bench, read a book and relax.  more »
  • This museum has a working, full size engine and caboose which you can take for a short ride. Also has a working blacksmith shop where they make the parts they need to repair their trains. A great and ...  more »

  • My friend volunteers and was able to give a behind the scenes look at stuff... Just ask they are more than willing to show any interested party. Being amazing volunteers work here
  • Online says open on Sundays so my son was so excited to go and it is closed. Really disappointed. Fix your hours listed!!!
  • Great place to take the kids. We have gone the past 3years to see Santa kids always have a blast here
  • Arrived at 1230p for our birthday party for our girls. We were allowed immediate access to set up dining car despite our 130p reservation. That meant a lot to me. Had a wonderful little train ride and then had our pizzas arrive at 130p. We brought our own dinner plates, but they provided cute cake plates, with forks and spoons. Party favors of dum dums, and party kazoos were also provided. The dining car was very charming and required very little decoration. The volunteer staff couldn't have been friendlier or more kind. This was a wonderful experience. Special note that it was a wonderful, safe, clean and fun space that kept my escape artist 2 year old contained.
  • The jackson street round house is one of the last fully functioning roundhouses in the country. It is worth the trip to walk through old train cars and explore, the kids can climb just a little and they have toddler wednesdays and free short train rides on select saturdays. There are also train models and equiptment to look at. Many of the volunteers are very knowledgeable. Theres a gift shop, a play steam engine for kids and a train engineer simulator in the far back. Also they repair and restore trains here so sometimes you can get a tour through the workshop ( sometimes they make steel candy canes in the winter time, good for kids to see) . great place, full of fun. Mainly volunteer and donation run. Totally worth a membership!

Where to stay in Saint Paul

Places to stay in St. Paul sit concentrated in the downtown area. The Lowertown Historic District, which includes some of the city's oldest buildings, makes a particularly attractive option. Hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts here can put you just steps from the Mississippi River, while the greater downtown area also offers apartment rentals and hostels. Staying downtown also puts you within walking distance of most of the city's prime attractions. Additionally, you'll find a handful of national-chain hotels on the east side of town near Interstate 494 / 694.
