Where to stay in Saint Paul

Places to stay in St. Paul sit concentrated in the downtown area. The Lowertown Historic District, which includes some of the city's oldest buildings, makes a particularly attractive option. Hotels, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts here can put you just steps from the Mississippi River, while the greater downtown area also offers apartment rentals and hostels. Staying downtown also puts you within walking distance of most of the city's prime attractions. Additionally, you'll find a handful of national-chain hotels on the east side of town near Interstate 494 / 694.

  • This is a Wonderful State Part to visit, right next to MSP Airport. Every time that we go there we are able to see wild deer, turkeys and birds. In the past when walking we have come close to deer, bu...  more »
  • Great hiking trails by the river. This park is in Minneapolis and easy to get to anytime of the year.  more »
  • Paid the $5 entry fee to take a morning run around one of the islands - I believe it was PIke Island. It was just over 3 miles round trip from the parking lot and was a perfect way to start the day. G...  more »

  • A very nice park along the Minnesota river. Lots of parking and easy to get to. You can take the trails that wind along the river bottom, take the path up to Fort Snelling, or the trail that joins with the parkway system. There's a nearby dog park, bikes to rent and an information center. There's place four fishing, picnics and a beach area.
  • Launched on the Minnesota River for a couple of hours of kayaking. The current on the Minnesota River was strong, so we spent most of our time exploring the waterways between the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers and on the Mississippi. The ranger at the entrance had helpful information on the current conditions (pun intended) and we picked up some of the free maps that were helpful. We weren't fishing, but we saw several other catch nice fish.
  • This is a great park for hiking and adventuring. At the confluence of the Minnesota River and Great Mississippi River the is just so much to see. And then what makes it even great is all the rich history of the area and it's proximity to Fort Snelling National Cemetery. There is just so much to see and do.
  • Good place to have a cycling or walking with paced roads. A welcoming place for cyclysts and very close to the city. You can enjoy the view of the Minnesota river.
  • What other city can you get off your plane, and 10min later be immersed in a beautiful wilderness?! This place is amazing, and the fact that most the trails are near the riverbank and a good 50-100' below street-level, it makes it feel so secluded and you can hardly hear the plane/road noise. Awesome escape in the heart of the city. The fort is awesome to tour as well.
