Cathedral of Saint Paul, Saint Paul
(4.7/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
With its Neoclassical architecture and copper and gold-leaf dome, Cathedral of Saint Paul is one the largest and most recognizable religious buildings in the United States. The cathedral features 24 stained-glass windows. On the inside, the life of Saint Paul is honored with a large, bronze baldachin. You can also see the statues of four evangelists. The cathedral celebrates migrations of people to Minnesota with its five chapels dedicated to the patron saints of the Irish, the Italians, the Germans, the Slavs, and the French-Canadians. Another chapel is dedicated to Christian missionaries. You can take a guided tour or opt for a self-guided tour (brochures are available inside the cathedral for a small donation). • Nothing special. Crowded, hot, small, expensive with parking charges that are equivalent of highway robbery. It's a typical state fair kind of a deal.
  • While we were in town we toured the Cathedral, it was amazing! Decked out for Christmas and soft music playing while we were there. A must see if you are in town.
  • The Cathedral of St.Paul is simple magnificent. Completed a century ago, through the vision of Archbishop Ireland and the generosity of the Hill family (Empire builder James J Hill and his son Louis) ...  more »

  • Architecturally speaking, it is stunning and a site to visit in St. Paul. Nestled atop the hill overlooking the city, hosts mass (of course), annual Red Bull Crashed Ice (in January), features two pokestops and a pokegym. One star off in deference to anyone not down with the whole religion thing.
  • A truly stunning place to worship and visit. The acoustics can sometimes be a challenge, but it's so worth coming to see the artwork, the sculptures, the dome, the shrines to the international saints, and to pray.
  • This is a beautiful cathedral! The architect gets 5 stars from me!!! When I walked in for Sunday Mass, I heard the sound of violins!!! The acoustics and reverberation of the music in the cathedral was perfect!!!
  • Beautiful cathedral. We went to see the church, not a service. The architecture is amazing.
  • A must visit place in Twin cities .. Join the mass here you will feel better .
