Art Museum Museum
Featuring a collection of more than 30,000 works of art, Saint Louis Art Museum counts among one of the country's major art institutions, attracting over half a million visitors each year. Erected for the 1904 World's Fair, the three-story building went through a massive restoration project in 2009 in which 21 new galleries were added, some for each of its permanent collection and temporary exhibits. The museum's star attraction is its modern art collection, including works by European masters Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh, Matisse, and Gauguin. Don't miss the gallery dedicated to 20th century German paintings that features the world's biggest collection of works by Max Beckmann, plus pieces by Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter, and Martin Kippenberger. • A beautiful place that I have visited in St. Louis, MO. The collection of paintings, sculptures and exhibits it has on display is rich, historic, educative and comprehensive. It is located in Forest Park, just up the zoo and as you enter you cannot miss the Grand Basin and the statue of St. Louis, King of France that towers in front of the museum. Give yourself enough time for the museum is big and you would not want to miss anything. There is a place to eat inside. The staff are friendly.
  • Everything about this place was absolutely beautiful. Excellent collection of artwork from all over the world. Very well organized and easy to navigate. Peaceful with friendly staff. This is definitely something to put on your to-do list while in the St. Louis, MO area!
  • Great experience, with many historically important pieces like four Van Gogh, a large Monet, two Picasso, a Mondrian, etc. They also have a few Sarcophagus from Egypt, and some sculptures from Rome and Greece. I would suggest parking near the Zoo's north entrance and walking, as Parking is not free. Besides that, it's a very pleasant experience.
  • My heart is full. This place was so wonderful. The cafe food was delicous, the staff was kind, and the art exhibits were simply beautiful. I highly suggest going to the Saint Louis Art Museum. It's amazing.
  • St. Louis is so fortunate to have such an amazing art museum. The special exhibits ate always very interesting and educational. They have about 2 special exhibits a year and I highly recommend everyone to go to all of them! Overall, the museum has so much artwork from all over the world that it's almost impossible to see it all in a day. I go here at least twice a month and always have a good time.
