  • I have been to castle rock many times as a child, however, my family had not. It has not changed, which is the beauty of the trip. It is still a cheesy roadside attraction, and I love it! We climbed t...  more »
  • This is a great place to get out of the car, stretch your legs, and scamper up a bunch of stairs for a rewarding view. Castle Rock is a classic tourist attraction with a classic gift shop full of all ...  more »
  • We stop here every year during our summer vacation. Fun to climb, a cheap attraction & they allow dogs! Great gift shop too. The view at the top of Castle Rock is well worth the climb!

  • This is the type of old-fashioned, billboard advertised, side-of-the-highway attraction that is sadly disappearing from the American landscape. For the very reasonable fee of $1, you get to climb Castle Rock - an old Native American lookout that is about 200 feet in the air. The climb can be taxing and I certainly would not advise the elderly or those in poor physical condition to try it. Once you've climbed to the top of the stairs, you are presented with a panoramic view of UP. You can see Lake Huron, the Mackinac Bridge, St. Ignace, and lots and lots of beautiful tree cover. There is a pay-per-use old school telescope on top, so bring change if you're interested. There's a lovely gift shop with everything from postcards to shirts, and all the little goodies in between that these places specialize in. Very friendly staff. Overall, highly recommended, given the affordable entrance fee, the friendly staff, and the million dollar views!
  • This was fun. Only cost $1 to go to the top viewing spot. Really nice area.
  • The view from the top is gorgeous. The actual viewing area at the top could be polished up a bit to look nicer. The climb isn't too bad. Just carry a bottle of water with you. Especially if it's summertime.
  • Great views only costs a dollar. a lot os steps to get to the top.
  • Great view from the top of castle rock, definitely worth the climb! Price to climb is very cheap ($1 when I went) and is worth every penny. Do beware that there are a decent amount of stairs to climb, but there are rest areas in between sets.
