  • We Took our kids there when they were young and our grandchildren. It's a must see! It's become a family tradition , we love going every year!
  • I have trouble walking and climbing, but I didn't let it stop me from climbing all the stairs and there are a lot! The view from the top was well worth it and you can stop and rest at different points...  read more »
  • We have a 16 year old and an 8 year old so they need stops to get out and stretch on our trips to the UP. Castle Rock is always fun. Climb to the top, enjoy the view, take some awesome pictures, and t...  read more »
  • This is the type of old-fashioned, billboard advertised, side-of-the-highway attraction that is sadly disappearing from the American landscape. For the very reasonable fee of $1, you get to climb Castle Rock - an old Native American lookout that is about 200 feet in the air. The climb can be taxing and I certainly would not advise the elderly or those in poor physical condition to try it. Once you've climbed to the top of the stairs, you are presented with a panoramic view of UP. You can see Lake Huron, the Mackinac Bridge, St. Ignace, and lots and lots of beautiful tree cover. There is a pay-per-use old school telescope on top, so bring change if you're interested. There's a lovely gift shop with everything from postcards to shirts, and all the little goodies in between that these places specialize in. Very friendly staff. Overall, highly recommended, given the affordable entrance fee, the friendly staff, and the million dollar views!
  • The view from the top is gorgeous. The actual viewing area at the top could be polished up a bit to look nicer. The climb isn't too bad. Just carry a bottle of water with you. Especially if it's summertime.
  • Great view from the top of castle rock, definitely worth the climb! Price to climb is very cheap ($1 when I went) and is worth every penny. Do beware that there are a decent amount of stairs to climb, but there are rest areas in between sets.
  • Castle Rock is a great tourist attraction to get out the car and stretch your legs. Lots of steps, but plenty of landings to rest if you can't make all the steps at once. Cost 1 whole dollar to cling the steps, and you get a free sticker!
  • Great view of the Upper Peninsula's beauty near St. Ignace! The climb is worth the time, to those physically able. Make sure you have a camera and binoculars!
