  • The Penn Center offers a wonderful examination of a largely forgotten era in our country's history. Although I consider myself readonably well educated about the Civil Rights Era of the 1950s and 1960...  more »

  • Summer of 63/64 a Lutheran Youth work group fixed up Penn Center. School was in bad need of repair, painting etc. Two weeks at Frog More were fantastic with kids from up and down East Coast. Approx. 22 girls and 15 boys were involved in schools repair. Not sure if this is correct but the "I HAVE A DREAM" speech was started there.
  • The Penn Center recognizes a significant part of American history, specifically African American. Everyone who visits the area should give their support to the Penn Center. The museum myself is tiny, but the surrounding land feels like a trip back in time. Many thanks to the wonderful ladies in the gift shop who showed us kindness.
  • Interesting insights into the history of the area. Walk out to the water and the little dock they've built there to get a bit of a breeze and break from the heat of the rest of the site. Or walk into the visitor's center where they have A/C.
  • This was a wonderful experience....so much african history....It reminded me once more to be proud of who I am.
  • I really love the history here. There is always a mandatory visit to Penn Center when I bring my friends down here from Columbus, Ohio
