  • We drove a long way in heavy rain after reading on the web site about this place. Really sucked that it did not say anything about being closed for renovations..
  • We drove 2 hours out of our way to visit this plantation due to being big North and South fans. When followed the signs for the house but when we got to the driveway there was a sign that said no tour...  more »
  • If you are a fan of the mini-series you will love this house. We were the only ones there and the lady that was there was super friendly and informative. Very homey and welcoming feeling.

  • My mom and I spend the weekend at Greenwood Plantation and had a wonderful time! The rooms were just right and quiet! There was a wedding going on and we couldn't hear a thing! The breakfast the next morning was plentiful with egss, sausage, biscuit and grits. The best part was the tour of the house. The owner's daughter gave us the tour and we were allowed to explore all the rooms. She was very knowledgeable and enjoyed conversation. I will gladly return!
  • This was my first time in Saint Francisville. I was looking to stay at a plantation and enjoy some quiet time outside. I decided to stay at the Greenwood plantation because it is not very far from town, but provides some much needed reprieve from city dwelling. I stayed in an upstairs room. The room was ok. Nothing exceptional, but clean. The grounds of the plantation are really splendid. The truly wonderful part of my stay was the exceptional customer service. The tour of the house was given by the current family resident, Victoria. She exudes a lot of pride in conveying the stories of previous residents and her current family occupancy. This plantation gives the tourist more incite into what living and working at the house is like and what it takes to maintain something this grand. I will be back!
  • We visited the Greenwood Plantation late August in 2015. We were greeted by a very knowledgeable member of the family who currently resides at the home. We had already toured 6 other homes in the southern Louisiana area and found this home to be the most welcomed tour. The daughter / granddaughter, of the family who painstakingly reconstructed this home to be of its former glory, spent time with us explaining to us the history of the home and what it took to be a plantation owner. We were not roped off or denied photographs like other plantation home tours. Cheers to the Barnes family for keeping the Louisiana plantation homes open for those of us who love to tour and learn about history. Beckie Kelley, Lumberton, Texas.
