  • Eagerly traveled here from the Twin Cities with a girlfriend for a wine tasting. Kind workers, knowledgeable service, most of the wine was divine and there was a live jazz band in the background as we purchased a bottle, conversed and relaxed. Limited seating during the chilly months.
  • This is my favorite Midwestern winery, beautiful wines, fantastic building and grounds and the knowledgeable staff are always willing to assist regardless of how busy it gets. I have attended several festivals and a wedding at this venue and they get a perfect score from my experiences.
  • Unfortunately, my husband and I were very disappointed with our experience at The Chateau St. Croix for our wedding this past August. The coordinator at the Chateau yelled at my husband because she had double booked one of our rooms and didn't bother to tell us before we showed up that it had happened and tried to make it out as though it was our fault (I have everything in writing explaining our plans and she ok'd it weeks before the wedding. If there was a discrepancy, we should have been told so that we could make other accommodations for our groomsmen and groom.) The wedding coordinator also yelled at my personal attendants when they asked her about the cupcakes and where to put them after dinner (her exact words were, "I'm a coordinator not a planner. I shouldn't' have to deal with this.") My friends were very offended and said they would never recommend having a wedding there. I also received a scathing text from the coordinator telling me how she is a coordinator and not a planner (on my wedding day mind you) and that I must have misinterpreted her job. I have been an event coordinator in the past, the job is the job. This means you take care of the event front to back - there is yelling at the bride, groom or her friends. We were deeply disappointed and quite frankly, shocked by her behavior. When I called the general manager to talk about it, I was told all of these things were my fault...no apology. He didn't even want to listen to our side, he just defended the property and told us it was our fault for wanting to use one of the rooms for the groomsmen to take staging photos (getting ready pictures) that their venue had never been used in that way. What I couldn't understand, is that we were not unreasonable in anything. We had asked if this would be ok (I have many emails to prove it) and we received a resounding yes. If it wasn't a possibility, we should have been told in the first place. But instead they double booked that room and had another bachelorette party in there without telling us, yet we had paid for the whole place. In our contract, it states that if you pay for the whole venue, all of the rooms are ours. It does also stipulate that the public will be coming and going, but this should never have happened. I would highly recommend going elsewhere for your wedding or private party. You definitely get what you pay for here - bad service, and they will blame you and not take responsibility for their part. It's not worth having your wedding day ruined.
  • Loved the wine. Beautiful grounds. Chateau Rouge was an amazing sweet red dessert wine. Chateau Rosé was also delightful.
  • Awesome grounds. Great atmosphere and wonderful service.
