  • Fantastic museum and the best pirate tour guide too! Wonderful character, very knowledgeable and wonderful with kids!
  • The museum was suggested by a tour guide and I'm so glad we followed her advice. We initially had planned to go to the fountain of youth for the day. Our two boys were with us and we were trying to fi...  more »
  • This was actually very interesting! We went because or children thought it would be cool, but we really enjoyed it ourselves. If you are into history, you will really enjoy it. It's not a cheesy touri...  more »

  • We had a great time here. Captain Mayhem's tour was entertaining and informative. Not sure if they have more than one tour guide, but ours was fantastic. They have an amazing collection of pirate treasures and artifacts. We spent quite a bit of time looking at all the items and reading through their history. I highly recommend this attraction.
  • Ok, this place is awesome. I reluctantly went because my kids wanted to go but we all ended up having a blast. There is a "history" room where you can research sunken treasure and pirates as well as a short interactive story room where you get to hear a real pirate story that was Disney quality. This is a must see for kids or adults.
  • It was really hard to decide between 2 and 3 stars. My husband, 5 yr old daughter and I only had 1 afternoon to visit St. Augustine and wanted to do something she'd enjoy. It' was also 90 degrees and extremely humid so inside activities were encouraged :) The museum itself had some interesting info and exhibits but doesn't warrant a 4 or 5 star review. It is very small but they've done a lot within the space they have. My 5 yr old enjoyed looking for the treasure map clues but that's the only thing she was interested in. My husband and I had to keep reminding her we were trying to look at and read things along the way. Capt. Mayhem wasn't there when we visited which I'm sure adds much more to the experience and I'm guessing that's where the 4+ star ratings come from. Had we known he wasn't there we probably would've looked at somewhere else to visit. I'd call ahead to see if he's going to be there. We visited on Talk Like a Pirate Day so I thought they might have something special going on but they didn't. We ended up spending more time in the gift shop than then in the exhibits. Overall I enjoyed it but wish Capt. Mayhem would've been there, then it might've been worth the $14 per adult we paid to get in.
  • I thought this was going to be a kids attraction but was extremely pleased to see that it not only seemed to be kid friendly but also very informative and entertaining. There's more historic information about pirates than anyone could ever want to know about. We took a good 90 minutes and could have spent another hour looking at everything. Great place. If you're looking for a place to entertain a preschooler (Kia C), go somewhere else like Chucky Cheese or McDonalds play park.
  • Very cool and interesting! My husband and I and our 3 children ages 7, 9 and 10 all enjoyed this a lot. I personally was not that excited to go but I was pleasantly surprised. If you can, do the tour with Captain Mayhem. He gives a lot of info without having to read all of the info plaques. I would recommend everyone do this atleast once.
