Ripley's Believe It or Not, Saint Augustine
(3.4/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
This location of Ripley's Believe It or Not is the first permanent exhibit of the uncommon Ripley's collection. The franchise, founded by Robert Ripley, began as a comic panel illustrating unusual facts. The company evolved into a chain of museums, starting with this one, a year after Ripley's death. Opened in 1950, the museum houses more than 800 exhibits of wacky and strange items, including some of Ripley's own original collection. Inside you'll find shrunken heads; a stuffed, six-legged cow; and a bone motorcycle. Bring your camera to capture photos of these and many more bizarrely fascinating displays. • There were several items that were worth seeing, like the space station made out of toothpicks, but most was a little too strnag for my taste.
  • One of Ripley's museums "believe it or not!", has existed since the fifties of the last century, the show of the same name was filmed here, many exhibits, including death masks of celebrities and shamanic objects

  • For the price and for what it is, a museum of oddities I'd say we got our monies worth. There's a few things in there you can drop quarters in such as a fortune teller machine for example. Good thing ...  more »

  • If you've been to a Ripley's Believe it or Not before, they are all pretty much the same. Worth going if you've never been. But, you really don't need to go more then once. That being said, I've been to 3 different ones more than once each because it's fun to go with people who haven't ever been before.
  • I love downtown St. Augustine, but if you dont visit Ripleys, you wont get the whole effect of an ancient city. The building itself is exciting, its an old castle. The staff and the grounds, are excellent. Also, stick around for the night fall because at the Ripleys you can also go on the ghost train. You can have fun all day long at this one building! Enjoy!
  • Entertaining, yet dirty. Educational, with a slapstick kinda vibe. Had this.. amateurist feel to it all though, like a bunch of moron high school kids thought it all up and put it together. Considering how much $ this company raked in in my childhood with their prime time tv shows, I was expecting something a lot more.. clean and professional.
  • Very cool experience! The ghost train tour was fantastic and the red train tour during the day great also!! Definitely would recommend.
  • What an amazing place to visit while you're in St. Augustine! The history behind this place will blow your mind! I definitely recommend visiting and also checking out their Red Train tours and also their Ghost Train tours at night.
