Old City, Saint Augustine
(4.5/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Soak in the charm and history of the oldest city and port in the continental United States, Old City. Founded in 1565 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, the city was Spanish Florida's capital for 200 years and the Florida Territory's until 1824. Walk the cobblestone streets and admire the Spanish-style architecture, explore the museum and other exhibits, grab a bite to eat, and shop. Purchase a hop-on-hop-off trolley ticket to get around or go by foot. The price of the ticket includes admission to several points of interest, including the jail, general store, history museum, and a demonstration at the tea house. Keep in mind that much of the city shuts down by 5 p.m. Plan your visit to Old City and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Saint Augustine trip itinerary planner.

  • An old centre incredibly friendly, I it had preferred to go from Orlando, visit back and forth on the day already that this only at 1.30 pm from auto. The truth is that for my taste hibiera been ideal at least staying one night, since we were in December and the climate was not for beach.

  • Old city street has many interesting and original or restored Spanish houses. These are older than any of our original colonies houses. Most have shops and restaurants but the Spanish government has a...  more »
  • It's an wonderful part of town, very small and so much history, but it seems to get glossed over by all the shopping that's going on.
