Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Visit the wildlife oasis and see and interact with animals from the four corners of the world at Sacramento Zoo. From red pandas to penguins, the modest-sized zoo is home to a variety of animals, all living in spacious habitats. The zoo layout caters to its youngest visitors, allowing kids to go easily from one habitat to the other and ensuring children in strollers have a good view of the animals. For a small fee you can take part in giraffe feeding, which takes place twice a day and is one of the zoo's main attractions. If you get tired of walking you can hop on a train, or take a break by having a snack or visiting the gift shop. Plan your visit to Sacramento Zoo and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Sacramento vacation trip planner.

  • The zoo is amazing! So many unique fun exhibits. A must is feeding the giraffes! Kids and adults love it. I am writing the review, however, to suggest NOT eating at Reilly's reserve. We have eaten here twice now and both times service was slow and not very good AND the food is horrible. We like the idea of a table service restaurant to rest and enjoy our time. We were hoping we had just caught them on a bad day the first time, but no. View is OK. Food is also over priced. We've tried sandwiches, apps and salads. All have been poor quality food, cold and we were even served stale bread this last time.
  • Zoo is on the small size. That can be a good thing if you have little ones. You can get around it in an hour or stretch it out for a couple. The garden was fun for kids. There are watering cans there so the kids can water.
  • This zoo is best when it's a bit cool outside because more animals are out. A highlight for me is all of the big cats, who are usually out if not always active. The red pandas are adorable but it can be hard to get a glimpse of them. At certain times you can pay $5 to feed a giraffe, which is lots of fun whether you're a kid or an adult. The grounds are clean and well maintained and the animals seem healthy and content, which gives me confidence that the staff are doing things right.
  • We enjoy bringing our kids here so much we bought a family season pass. There are lots of things for the kids to see and experience each time we come. All the wonderful animals that the kids would never get to see otherwise. Great place to being the kids in the summer time.
  • Very good zoo. Simple layout and the entire zoo can be covered in 2-2.30 hours. It's not a big zoo and hence the 4 star rating. Good place to spend an afternoon in Sacramento. Free parking all around. The soft serve ice cream is pretty bad
