Sacramento Zoo, Sacramento
(3.7/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Visit the wildlife oasis and see and interact with animals from the four corners of the world at Sacramento Zoo. From red pandas to penguins, the modest-sized zoo is home to a variety of animals, all living in spacious habitats. The zoo layout caters to its youngest visitors, allowing kids to go easily from one habitat to the other and ensuring children in strollers have a good view of the animals. For a small fee you can take part in giraffe feeding, which takes place twice a day and is one of the zoo's main attractions. If you get tired of walking you can hop on a train, or take a break by having a snack or visiting the gift shop. Plan your visit to Sacramento Zoo and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Sacramento vacation trip planner.

  • There is no comparison with other big zoos. San Francisco. San Diego. Etc. Though the zoo itself isn't fantastic, and it is rather small, it's nice to be able to take little kids (under 8) to both thi...  more »
  • It's a nice little zoo, inconstent enclosures - some very nice, others a bit antiquated. It is a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours, but not a marquis attraction for the city. The surrounding p...  more »
  • What a great zoo. Nice snack bar. Buying the reusable cup makes refills reasonable. Nice break from the heat. Cute gift shop. Across street is fairytown land, we call it humpty dumpy land. Kids love t...  more »

  • The zoo itself is fun. Had a birthday party here recently and the set up/contract details were ambiguous and the planner was a bit difficult to deal with. Finally got everything hammered out, but know that details will come up after you sign the contract and pre-pay. Thankfully I deal with legally binding contracts for work daily and aren't afraid of speaking out, otherwise we'd have paid even more to have a few picnic tables for an hour. Cost prohibitive for most.
  • Live the reptile building. you go in one way and out the other. all indood and very cool if you like reptiles. all are behind glass and can not get to you, in case you are scared and your kids are not! lol...a must visit worth the kids! Fairy tail town is right across the street also...
  • Always a favorite. Lots of great animals and things for the kids to do.
  • My daughter loves this zoo and so do I. We love feeding the Giraffe's. We are super excited about the new rock climbing wall!
  • Fun, clean, easy access, not too large. Food selection is a bit lacking as well as quantity of shows. Would like to see much more presentations from the staff.
