  • We began our trip with a visit to this museum when we heard an announcement for the underground tour. For $12/adult, we went on a 1 hour, jam-packed tour of the high points of Old Sacramento and the u...  read more »

  • A Great piece of history where it is within reach. The museum is full of interesting exhibits. Some of these are interactive allowing one to be transported back into the past, when California was in i...  read more »
  • Great history museum that provides a wonderful location for scholars to study. Located right near the River and Historic Sacramento, as well as the Railroad museum. Very neat interactive displays to allow kids to see what it was like to pan for gold located out front.
  • We took the "underground Sacramento tour." If you're expecting a trek through tunnels and catacombs this is not it. If you are expecting to be brought to two basements with a dirt floor, you will be very pleased with this tour. Half of the tour isn't underground. The most exciting part was the mention of a rumored rat-human hybrid that lives under Sacramento. These rumors were immediately dismissed and our hopes of an enjoyable experience were crushed. There was little to no architectural remains of the "underground" part of Sacramento. The tour guide failed to give new information that wasn't already presented in the museum. :(
  • I went to the Underground After Hours Tour here yesterday and all I have to say about it is DON'T DO IT! Its a waste of time and money. Let me give you a couple of reasons as to why that is. The description they gave of this tour sounded awesome online! They described it as a spooky paranormal experience where we would encounter ghosts as we traveled through tunnels or walkways underground. The sad reality is that we walked above ground from destination to destination as our tour guide gave us a history lesson of random people and facts that I had zero interest in. And these so called underground destinations where basements of old buildings where they had exhibits of bottles, chairs, pots, cans and etc... The so called paranormal experience they claimed to have, sadly consisted of us looking at a building from the street as the tour guide talked about the ghost the that apparently existed there. The worse part was I took my lady here thinking that this was gonna be a fun date! I was bored to tears and sadly my date was too. Don't make the same mistake as I did... ( Btw this tour does not even deserve the one star review I am giving it, but it is required in order for me to make this post.)
  • Spent a couple hours here with my family. Very enjoyable. Interesting exhibits within a good floor plan. I especially enjoyed the canning display, well curated and very informative.
