  • I've been for a walk in old Sacramento and it is impressive how you feel immediately transported in the towns of western films! I liked it a lot! Many cafés, small shops etc.

  • Full of small shops that have not sold anything other than rubbish. There is a railway museum (we visited not this). The buildings are old and very nice. Parking is available and costs $1.75 an hour.

  • Not sure what the hype is ... the highlight was going to the pier and watching the lift-bridge in action.

  • I love visiting Old Town when I am in Sacramento. There are dozens of places to eat and shop along with great views of the river. You'll immediately notice the raised boardwalk sidewalks, there is really a fascinating story behind that. Like many "Old Towns" when a natural Disaster struck like fire of flood the town would simply build over the old one. Below your wooden sidewalk is the old street level several feet below. There are several places where the original street level is still visible. Many of the single story buildings you are looking at and walking into are really the second floor of the original building! Lots of History and a wonderful train museum I would recommend visiting if your into classic Locomotives. Something for everyone and a visit wont be regretted!
  • Imagine how the city looked many years ago but instead of reading plaques and squinting at fading photographs, you get to walk on the very same steps! You're living and breathing history when you take a stroll around Old Sacramento. [+] the sidewalk is made of wooden planks and the road is cobblestone [+] gorgeous refurbished old buildings [+] you can walk along the old train tracks [+] there's a life size example of how schools used to look like [+/-] there's street parking available (and parking meters) [-] be careful parking and opening your doors! the wooden sidewalks are elevated high off the road [-] every shop is pretty much a tourist trap, which kinda ruins the historic atmosphere of the place Still, it's worth it to visit at least once. Wouldn't you want to travel back in time just for a few hours?
  • Old Sac is a lot of fun. The amount of stores are endless. You can see the original road and it is very cool thinking about the history. Endless food options too. Don't forget to get Saltwater taffy while you're down there. Mmmmm.
  • Cool shops! Also by the train museum. Be careful of parking meters. They are POORLY marked.
  • One of my favorite places to take the family and hang out, have dinner or desert. Go out on a hot night on the town at the many bars located in old Sacramento. You can also take a horse drawn cartridge ride from here if tiki like. There is so much entertainment here to list. A must see if you have not been yet!
