Old Sacramento, Sacramento

4.1
A National Historic Landmark District known as "Old Sac," Old Sacramento showcases Victorian gold miner's architecture. The California State Railroad Museum, Sacramento History Museum, and the military museum are all located in this section of town. Walk through the streets for window-shopping and note the restored wagons. Many of the buildings, like the Eagle Theater, are open to the public. • Although touristy, I'd still recommend it. The buildings try and maintain that 1800's old Western 'flavor' and, actually, do very well. Plenty of shopping with all types of products. Food and drinking establishments are aplenty...enjoy a treat for yourself, and your family. Candidly, to address any parking concerns, just use one of the garages located at each end of the district. Don't forget the Pony Express memorial, check out the train museum, and the Delta King paddle wheel which is pretty cool. Wells Fargo has a museum located there, along with and old California Military Museum...they're worth checking out too. Have a fun day!!!
  • This a very interesting historical area of California. The railroad museum is one of the best in North America. The Delta King is a great place to stay along with the Embassy Suites. There are many good restaurants in the area. All of this is right on the Sacramento River with the Tower Bridge in plain sight. This is also within walking distance of the renovated Amtrak train station. Many good shops abound. There are a lot of vagrants and homeless people in this area. I've never felt in danger here but use caution when walking around.
  • Cool perseverance of the original buildings. It was off season when i went but enough stuff was open. It is a good size to walk around in, not just one strip of buildings. Parking is convenient but not free. Very family friendly vibe with ice cream, candy stores and costumes photograph shops. There are a number of bars and restaurants but if your looking for more than a casual few drinks maybe not the place. Definitely worth a look.
  • Old Sac is the perfect place to take the family during the day or to go out with friends at night. This area has a variety of shops for people of all ages. I highly recommend stopping by Fanny Ann's Saloon; this place is several stories high with many historical artifacts on display. Kitchen and bar, with booths and even arcade games for all ages! There is also a candy store nearby that's worth checking out and an interesting gift shop called Garden of Enchantment that's a must-see if you're in the area. Old Town Sacramento has a very cool background that can be found on Google. I highly recommend checking out this area!
  • Old Sac is always a nice place to walk around, have lunch. Very nice for kids or a date. You can take a horse drawn carriage ride. Eat for cheap or 5stars with a black tie. The river walk is right there and is always a nice to get away from crowds. You ca take the river walk all the way to Discover Park. Lots of sights to see on the way. Tons of shops where you can find great 1 of a kind gifts.
