#5 of 14 in Museums in Sacramento
The California Automobile Museum offers plenty of opportunities for you to visit. Located just a stone’s throw from the famous “Old Sacramento”, and neighbors to the up 'n' coming Broadway strip, this museum is like nothing you’ve ever seen. This is a world-class display with over 150 cars under one roof. You will not find this arrangement of cars anywhere else as some of the cars are privately owned, museum owned, or hand chosen to be on display. Visit Calautomuseum.org to see exhibits coming and going throughout the year;

Classes & Group Tours: This all-ages facility offers an array of hands-on classes and stay up today on our big car themed events and trips! Although the California Automobile Museum offers free tours daily, scheduled group tours are always encouraged. If you have a group of 10 or more, schedule your date with our Education Coordinator for special needs and undivided attention. If you’re in town on 2nd Saturday, be sure to drop by around 2 pm for a special tour on the inside look of the cars and the people behind the master-work.

Vehicle Donations & Consignments: The California Automobile Museum has an excellent Vehicle Sales department that wants the sale of your car to be successful. Our Vehicle Sales Coordinator will see the entire process of your car from listing it online, to showing it on the museum floor.

Private Event Rentals: Rent out the California Automobile Museum for your next private event. Who would think that the auto museum would be the best place to host a party? We’ve seen it all; birthdays, fashion shows, brew fests, corporate holiday parties, anniversaries, and dog shows! Contact our Event Rental Coordinator for more details: events@calautomuseum.org

  • At the California Auto Museum You can learn the history of the development of the automotive industry in the region around here. It was good that the actual car was exhibited, too.

  • I was fortunate enough to have a work meeting at the CA Auto Museum. Meeting was in large room capable of hosting banquets or large meetings. After we were able to view the amazing selection of cars. By far the best collection of old vehicles and memorabilia for miles. Its an event the entire family will enjoy. Docents are very knowledgeable. Several really rare old cars. Like the original horseless carriage! Very worthwhile if you like car museums. Located close to old downtown so very convenient if you are down there exploring.
  • For years I wanted to check out the California Automobile Museum , it’s less than 3 miles from my house. Finally went for a work luncheon and had a blast! Loved the docent tour! The cars were so fun to look at! Even some you can sit on. If you’ve been debating visiting, just go! Perfect afternoon family activity. (Especially on a rainy day!)
  • My wife and I stopped in museum on a cold afternoon for a brief visit. We were surprised at the breadth and condition of the collection. We had intended to wander the museum at our own pace but decided to follow along with a docent eager to describe the highlights of the collection. His passion was engaging and we learned many things about the history of the cars that we would not have gather on our own. If you enjoy cars, this is a fun place to spend a couple of hours on a cold, rainy afternoon!
  • Let me start off by saying that the automobile museum has lots and lots of amazing cars old and new. The reason I gave it a 4 star is that there were not a lot of staff around to help give information and describe what we were looking at. I would have liked for it to be a little more interactive for children. I have a 5 year old nephew who LOVES cars and was so excited to go see them. The down side was that I felt it was not very kid friendly as he wanted to touch all the cars, and get inside them which I kept having to remind him he couldn't due. They do have one or two that they allow photos on, but for a car kid that was not enough. While we were there they were fixing an older vehicle and drove it around the museum which he thought was awesome. This is defiantly a place for older children who have the ability to control themselves.
  • Drove up from Modesto and was not disappointed! Felt the entry cost was quite reasonable. Be aware, the facility temperature tends to vary a reasonable amount, so if it is cold outside bring a jacket, and if it's warm exoect it or be fairly warm inside. Clearly laid out, and it's very evident the cars are loved. Docents are very knowledgeable and full of cool little facts about each of the vehicles and it is fun to hear. Sent lots of pics to my dad while walking the cavity and it brought back a lot of memories for him. Thanks for making his day from 2k miles away guys.
