Theme Park Water / Amusement Park
A product of the expansion of amusement parks in the early 20th century, Rye Playland today sits on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the only examples in America of a government-owned theme park. The park's rides range from the family-friendly to the extreme. Experience wild runs, such as the Double Shot or Starship 2000, to achieve blinding speeds, or climb aboard a classic Ferris wheel for a slower-paced ride. You can also explore the mirror maze and spooky zombie castle. Be sure to check the park's schedule to see if you can catch any of the frequently offered free concerts and music events. Keep in mind that many of the thrill rides have minimum height requirements for riders.
