Trail Ridge Road, Rocky Mountain National Park
Categories: Scenic Drives, Tourist Spots, Outdoor Activities
Enjoy sweeping views of the lush Colorado wilderness from the comfort of your own car along Trail Ridge Road. The road stretches 77 km (48 mi) east to west through the scenic Rocky Mountain National Forest, with 17.7 km (11 mi) of the road's length traveling above the tree line. Take advantage of the area’s many walking trails and viewpoints before winding your way up the paved road to an elevation of almost 3,505 m (11,500 ft), where the evergreen tree line ends and you can enjoy panoramic views of snowcapped mountains and rugged peaks. Remember to drive cautiously on the roadway, as there are many steep drops and intense wind conditions. BEST SCENIC DRIVE IN THE STATE! This is a must do during your trip to RMNP. Especially if you've got kids or parents with you who cannot do any hiking. Please be careful and mind the weather conditions during your trip as the road is often a quick turn away from the edge of a mountain...
Best park of Rocky Mountain National Park. Make sure you bundle up even on a warm summer day. It gets cold but lits an awesome view.
Absolutely beautiful views and I have frequently seen different types of wildlife along the road. I would recommend taking Old Fall River Road up to the alpine visitor center and Trail Ridge Road down to make a loop from the Estes Park side.
2nd time... Great views... Wear something warm
beautiful drive. I think Colorado state monument is 10 times as breathtaking so be sure to see that also!
