Farnsworth Art Museum exhibits American art works, particularly works with a focus on the state of Maine. The museum is well-known for its collection of works by George Bellows, William Zorach, and Andrew Wyeth. The museum also owns the Olson house, a National Historic Landmark and the subject of several paintings by Wyeth, including the famous "Christina's World." Stroll through the museum's galleries to see paintings and photographs of Maine and its people. Don't miss Louise Nevelson's works, which helped to modernize American sculpture. • Plenty of Wyeth art to gaze at. They have occasional free entry. We happened to be there for an October pumpkin festival that included free entry. The museum is worth a look.
  • Went to Rockland specifically to see this Museum and the works of the Wyeths. We weren't disappointed.
  • Amazing collection of Andrew Wyeth paintings Great museum store and friendly staff. . Visit Atlantic Baking Co coffee across the street for breakfast or lunch!
  • Great museum, love the buildings and the way they use the place, especially the church. Lot of art from the Wyeth family, small permanent collection of other artists and nice exhibitions with lot of artwork by Roy Lichtenstein among other.
  • A mix mash of local known artists & invited exhibitions. An amazing collection from those presented.
  • Dedicated to Andrew Wyeth but other Maine artists are also represented. The building also represents mid-1800's architecture.
  • As a fan of the Wyeth's, the Farnsworth is a favorite. Seeing Christina's World at the Farnsworth (several years ago when it was there on special arrangement with MoMA) was a singular experience.
  • One of the small treasures of the art museums of Maine. And a delightful little town to set it in. Worth a stop.
