Roanoke Food Tours reviews
We recently took this tour while our son and daughter in law were visiting. We have been on numerous food tours across the US and in a couple of other countries. This one was very well done. Our... more »

Our guide Amelia showed us around the city and local cuisine with such grace and attention that I would've thought we were in New York or San Francisco! Yummy food and good company make this experience worthwhile and helps give you a taste of what Roanoke has to offer. Highly recommend~
I received a gift card for my birthday and my husband and I had wonderful time taking the Downtown Food and Cultural Tour. Mr. Gilbert was an amazing guide and our appetites were certainly pleasantly satisfied at the end of the tour! Book a tour for any occasion or just a fun day out! We can't wait to come back for another Tour Roanoke experience!
We experienced their classic Food & cultural tour, which seemed to lack the balance and preparedness I’ve experienced on other similar tours. We waited longer than seemed necessary at multiple food stops and we just finishing our 3rd of 7 stops at the end of hour 2. I think this decreased the energy of the group. We also finished the tour about 45 minutes late, which isn’t ideal when you are trying to explore the city. Our last stop was chocolatepaper would have been a wonderful shop to explore after the final dessert, but we were hurried along to see views at a final building in which the roof was closed for an event. Small touches like having the restaurant owners or chef introduce the food or having menus to browse without having to ask were missed. The tour guide was rich in her knowledge of the city and we thoroughly enjoyed the stop at the art museum. You also get some coupons in your pamphlet, which were a nice touch. Overall the lack of balance between food and culture, seeming lack of preparedness from the restaurants, and extended time spent on the tour decreased our enjoyment.
Larry and Gilbert did an amazing job for our private tour! Could not have asked for a more seamless tour from beginning to end they were friendly, professional, and fun! It was a great mix of history lessons of the city of Roanoke as well as learning about new restaurants and dishes to try in the area. Everyone on the tour had a great time and I would recommend this tour to anyone- whether you've been in Roanoke your whole life or just visiting, it's a great way to experience the city!
The Appalachian 'Shine & Spirits tour was outstanding. We drove from Blacksburg and it was very convenient to have a parking and pickup point just off I-81. All three tour stops were uniquely engaging and interesting. The guide was very knowledgeable, attentive, and focused on making the trip enjoyable. There were a generous number of tastings at each stop, and even more variety than we expected. The historical aspect of the tour is fascinating, especially the hand-made still at Twin Creeks and the chance to talk to the owner/builder about his experience. It was also great to be able to relax and sample the drinks and atmosphere without having to worry about driving. The bus is a comfortable ride, even on the curvy rural roads. This tour is a unique experience and well worth the drive from the New River Valley.
