Constructed in 1949, the star is the largest of its kind in the world, sitting 319 m (1,045 ft) above Roanoke. The adjacent overlook offers superb views of downtown and the valley.   • You get a nice view of the entire city of Roanoke from the Mill Mountain star park. It is especially nice view at night.
