Constructed in 1949, the star is the largest of its kind in the world, sitting 319 m (1,045 ft) above Roanoke. The adjacent overlook offers superb views of downtown and the valley.   • We made a short stop to see the star. Arrived about an hour before sunset, so we able to have a nice "day view" as well as "night view" of the city. There is a parking lot really close to the star and...  more »
