  • Roanoke has 15+ new breweries. Big Lick City Brewing has the best New England Style IPA’s of any of them. Don’t love their stout as it was thin but their IPA’s are delicious. Great band and cool outdo...  more »

  • I used to like this place. Until they came out with "White Bronco" beer. It's awful. They are making money off of a woman who was beaten, abused and murdered. They are making money off of murder, because they think it's tongue in cheek. When I messaged them about it, they said, "You are entitled to your opinion." Then they blocked me and deleted my comments. All of which they can do. But in this day and age, I cannot stand by while a company basically agrees with and makes fun of a murder, a woman who was beaten and abused. I'm REALLY surprised that a company founded by former science teachers is cool with this and didn't have any issue with making money or fun off of a woman who was destroyed and stabbed to death. That's just wrong. Plain wrong. If you are cool with making fun of abuse and murder, that's cool for you. You do you. Personally, I'm not down with it and I'm definitely not down with supporting businesses that make money off of it.
  • This is my favorite brewery in the Roanoke Valley, no question about it. Bryan, Chuck, and Harry really have something special in their craft beer variety. The lineup is ever-changing and, thusly, appeals to those with a penchant for trying new brews. Make sure to bring or buy your own growler to take home your favorite!
  • I love visiting Breweries and this one is my favorite in Roanoke! The new location is so nice and even though it's much bigger than their first location, it still feels just as cozy. It's a must try if you're in Roanoke!
  • Great brewery with great local options. Since they moved to the new space it has felt nice more open and gives them a lot more to work with.
  • Absolutely fabulous. Best beer in SWVA by a long shot. Might have the best NEIPA in Virginia. Gorgeous site with a ton of character. Friendly staff and terrific owners.

Where to stay in Roanoke

The most architecturally interesting accommodations in Roanoke cluster in the historical center, south of Gainsboro district. The long-established hotels here have been joined by the more modern, purpose-built establishments. Look to the north and in the residential areas for more modest inns and guesthouses, and around the airport for some contemporary business-style hotels.
