Two former presidents are buried in Hollywood Cemetery. The remains of James Monroe, the fifth president of the United States, are contained in a Gothic Revival-style tomb nicknamed The Birdcage. Established in 1849, the cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. From Palmer Chapel Mausoleum or Davis circle, you'll find the best views of the mighty James River. • Beautifully landscaped and maintained with easy access by vehicle at your leisure. Wonderful views of the river and the city can be found alongside the James and fantastic pieces of history and memorial across the sprawling lawns edging the City of Richmond. It would be nice to have more readily available access to information regarding the history behind many of the memorials for those who choose to tour at their leisure.
  • Beautiful cemetery, very well kept, fascinating people buried here. Recommend the walking tour to learn some interesting facts.
  • Perfect place to pay your respects to the Greatest Leaders of The War Between the States. God Bless them all.
  • I feel slightly awkward rating a cemetery because this isn't Google Graves or whatever. But as a tourist location (which its marketed to be) it's a pretty nice one, I suppose. The overlook from the far side to the river is gorgeous and the variety of famous people buried within make it an historic trip. If you're into ghosts and legends, you'll get that here too.
  • Lovely place to spend your day.
