  • To-day we visited Historic Tredagar in downtown Richmond VA (riverfront). In fact there are two museums: the museum on the Tredegar Iron Works (free access) and the American Civil War Center next door...  read more »
  • I mean if you are into the Civil War this is a must do. If you are so so on war things then you could probably skip it. There is a little gift shop, bathrooms and a good film or two. Its also nice and...  read more »

  • Lots of old machinery and mechanical goodies to gander at. Very friendly staff inside the museums. One museum is free, the other costs money per person. On site parking costs money as well, though a ticket to the non free museum covers parking costs. The buildings are well preserved and you could easily spend a nice afternoon exploring the iron works grounds. Tons of walking trails lead away from the grounds and towards the river.
  • Not very expensive and a great way to learn about history along the historic James River
  • This is just one of many great historical site/ museums in Richmond. The exhibits and building ruins are very interesting, but don't expect to kill a whole day here. I would give an hour, two max to take in what this museum has to offer, but the fact that you are right next to the river and the beautiful Belle Isle public park make it a great draw if you are up for seeing multiple attractions in the area and can do a bit of extended walking to Belle Isle. The museum itself is of course worth the visit on its own, just not a whole afternoon.
  • Nice NPS park, with exhibits inside and out. Right on the river and beautiful view.
  • Visited on several occasions. Something you should do at least once if you have any interest in history or always wondered what this building was for while you were at a festival.
