Interesting hike ending at the remains of the Grande Vista Sanitarium, founded by Dr. Hendrik Belgum in the early 1900's to treat patients with mental disorders. The remains include fruit trees, palm.... more »

The views are iconic Bay Area views. One of the nice things is that it's easy to get to. Seems to be dog friendly in most areas. more »

Trails are great - some just for hiking and others including biking. Nice 360° views from the ridge. And so close to the city... another world. more »

It is a nice park. No wildcats. Too many dogs for them i think. It can use a little housekeeping though.

I never knew about this place. Found it through San Pablo Health Centers Walk with a Doc program. This place is huge, lots of trails to enjoy, beautiful views of Richmond, and lots of picnic areas to enjoy food and friends. Here you will find a wide variety of trails; it even connects to Tilden Park in Berkeley. I'm still not sure how far it goes. You will also find some of the most breathtaking views in the Bay area. And the picnic areas are large and plentiful. There are tables to sit at, green spaces to play in, and trees and coverings to keep cool in the shade. Oh and the bathrooms are pretty nice too. I would highly recommend this place to any adventure seekers. The trails can be steep, so be mindful that not everyone will be able to make the trek, but there are easier trails near the picnic areas. And the trail to Tilden Park is pretty flat, so that's also a possibility for those who don't like hills. And lastly the parking lot is pretty big, I don't think you would ever come here and not be able to find parking.

I love talking the trails up and down the hillsides. The lake is warm and swimmable. Horse trails and hiking trails everywhere. Many dogs off leash on the weekends. Pretty muddy during the winter months. Bring your own water and hat. Don't expect your cell phone to work.

Very nice trail system here with varying difficulty for walking/hiking/running/biking. A water source would be nice, but overall it's a great place and I run here weekly. I regularly see a fair amount of wildlife, including turkeys, foxes, and coyotes.

Surrounded by Nature's beauty, not only that, but there's plenty of hiking, biking and exploring! Has a cool little farm a century-old merry-go-round and a little train that you can ride. Most of all, Amazing views & amazing people.
