  • To me, not all history is interesting--in fact, some is downright boring. We watched the video then took the driving tour. There was an issue with the recorded narrative at the first stop, but we hear...  more »

  • The Battle of Wilson's Creek is a lesser-known, but important battle of the early Civil War. The visitor center film and exhibits, the tour of the battlefield, and the rangers and volunteers do a wonderful job of explaining the battle and the events preceding and following in the context of the war as a whole. My daughter enjoyed completing the Junior Ranger book and earning her badge. Visiting Wilson's Creek and the George Washington Carver site made for a good day trip from Kansas City.
  • As a history buff, I was moved by the importance of the battlefield and the role it played in the Civil War. The grounds are well-maintained and the staff is very helpful. There's a research library I desperately want to spend some time in, but the artifact room is really small and limited. Overall a very worthwhile experience.
  • First time here, a beautiful, peacefully sad place. If you take the car tour, there is one way in and you can stop and call a phone number, and get a little synopsis about the location on your phone. The VERY BEST part of the day was the opportunity to buy a senior pass (62 and older) that will give you entrance into many state parks for ONLY $10.00...forever!!!! The rangers on duty were very friendly and Miss Billie is an amazing face for the park system. Informative, kind and helpful, she was A+++. 9.4.16
  • I have been here, twice. Very awesome and I love that it's not that far, my family can go on a tank of gas and make a day of it. Great for everyone.
  • Put on your walking shoes and have a blast. This historic national park is the place to take the entire family. There are many sights to see and places to explore. Be sure to take some bug spray, water, and comfortable clothing. Poison ivy is in abundance so make sure you know what it looks like. Rules are strictly enforced for everyone's enjoyment.
