  • Have attended for a number of years. Enjoy viewing the large variety of planes up close. Can even enter some of them. The races are exciting to watch as pilots show off their flying skills.  more »
  • I is cool but it is out in the middle of the desert hot and everything even the bottle water is way over priced.  more »

  • I met an air racer in 1965. I have been hooked on the Reno Air Race ever since. This is an Air race with an air show. It's not really about an air show it's about RACING. Highly modified WWII planes with a 'run what ya brung' attitude. My non-air race friends are always amazed when I tell them there is a 28 cylinder 4360 cubic inch engine on the front of single seat airplane trying to average 500 mph around a 8 mile course 50 to 150 feet above the ground racing 8 other airplanes. As big as that engine is it is outclassed by a Rolls Royce V-12 putting out 3,500 plus HP. If you are a motor head you really should go at least once.
  • So fun! Like no other racing in the country! Go Tony the Tiger, #592!
  • Go to the Air Races every year! Every event is exciting and since it is run almost entirely by volunteers you are bound to find someone who is snotty though. High prices, but that is expected for special events. Exciting races and cool planes, a wonderful experience overall!
  • It's was amazing! What a great event.. can't wait for next year.
  • EXTREMELY Disappointed at the 2016 Event. It seems RARA is playing GAMES....SAD LOW Plane count UNLIMITED GOLD CLASS.

Where to stay in Reno

Since Reno's casinos want you to save your money for the blackjack table, they offer some very reasonable rates on their rooms. Even a stay in one of the amenity-rich resort- or spa-style casinos downtown can be quite affordable. Plenty of hotels, motels, inns, and lodges are scattered throughout town, though most lie in and around downtown. If you're planning to ski in the mountains west of town, staying near Interstate 80 can save a couple minutes on your commute. Accommodations in Reno generally remain easy to find, but the days before and after the popular Burning Man festival in the desert east of the city tend to see a bump in visitors. Consider booking ahead if your visit coincides with the festival.
