  • Great place to explore unwind and watch life at its best. From little blue jays to giant trees. There is so much to see. Life is hectic, but this place is always so peaceful and so simple. There are so many vibrant sounds and natural music from running water, birds and butterfly wings. Take a stroll around the park and greet a passerby or smile. Cute squirrels trying to take your fruit and spiders galore for those intrigues. So, close to the city and so far away from the craziness of life. I love to bring a blanket and lay it down. Sometimes read a book or just take a nap. Other times I walk my dogs or go on a hike. Re most versatile place in Reno. Fyi the sunset is awesome here. Just lay down a bla let and bring a brewed tea and watch the colors dance. Best time is cloudy days!
  • Biggest park in reno! Gorgeous flower gardens and lots of space to wander. Also includes a huge dog area and multiple playgrounds. Also has a visitor center with monthly installments for all ages
  • You know what sets Rancho San Rafael apart? The unexpected. It brings you to another world, offering new perspective. It's a lovely place to take a walk and breathe a little. I have so many fond memories I was lucky enough to capture; there's magic here.
  • One of Reno's little gems. I went there to check out where my son is getting married and was really surprised by the rangers, they let myself and a friend take a look at the room in the museum where the wedding is going to be held, and the museum was closed. The rangers also told me about all the buildings on the property, and the hiking trails. I am going to have to go down every weekend and discover something new.
  • One of the best parks in Reno. Lots of room to roam, nice play area for children, great dog park. Plenty to do or just enjoy a quiet picnic. Lots of special events throughout the year.

Where to stay in Reno

Since Reno's casinos want you to save your money for the blackjack table, they offer some very reasonable rates on their rooms. Even a stay in one of the amenity-rich resort- or spa-style casinos downtown can be quite affordable. Plenty of hotels, motels, inns, and lodges are scattered throughout town, though most lie in and around downtown. If you're planning to ski in the mountains west of town, staying near Interstate 80 can save a couple minutes on your commute. Accommodations in Reno generally remain easy to find, but the days before and after the popular Burning Man festival in the desert east of the city tend to see a bump in visitors. Consider booking ahead if your visit coincides with the festival.
