Sundial Bridge, Redding

(1,000+ reviews on the web)
Bridge
Stretching 213 m (700 ft) across the Sacramento River, Sundial Bridge gives visitors easy access to a nearby park and also claims to be one of the world's largest timepieces of its kind. The bridge's 66 m (217 ft) tall tower acts as the "hand" of the sundial, holding the structure entirely above the water, and you'll find that markers on a nearby plaza provide the clock on which the shadow falls. Marvel at the bridge's design, which incorporates decorative glass, tiles, and translucent structure pieces that make the profile extremely distinctive. • The bridge is fantastic bring a real camera you won't be disappointed. Lots of fun things for the kids to do. Even if you arrive late there are several trails to walk. Best time for fotos is 90 min before sundown.
  • This bridge is just an architectural beauty. The walkway is interesting, with its glass panels, and when on the other side, the sundial spike shoots up into the sky. Following the suspension lines can make one extremely dizzy. The park offers lots of paths for relaxing and strolling, as well as a gift shop and coffee/snack shop, with some tasty pastries.
  • Amazing! We just wanted to go for a walk and the sundial bridge was so much more then that. I it's great for kids and adults alike PLUS they are dog friendly
  • Whenever relatives and friends come into town, I have to take them to see the sight of the Sundial Bridge! The landscaping is well kept and it's just a beautiful, peaceful place to walk. Very family friendly (and they even sell snacks!)
  • My family and I did enjoy our walk. We came at dusk because we wanted to see the lights come on. It was sorta cool. I had hoped maybe the glass would be clear but it had a frosted finish. Otherwise it did have some beautiful scenic views and a beautiful walking park.
