Where to stay in Rapid City

In Rapid City you'll find a variety of hotels and motels, but you can expect their rates to vary considerably depending on the season. Those located downtown provide easy walking access to some of the area's most popular restaurants and bars. Visitors wanting to explore the iconic Mount Rushmore or Custer State Park attractions may prefer the convenience of a hotel along Interstate 90. If you want a scenic escape, look for a bed and breakfast, campsite, or cabin in the surrounding Black Hills National Forest.

  • We've been to most of the caves in the Black Hills and this is one of the least interesting. The tour guide was great but there really isn't a lot to see as far as formations in the cave.  more »

  • We took our three children, ages 6 and under. This was seriously the most family friendly cave we have been to. We opted for the shorter tour which was perfect for our two year old, and were greeted at the end with a free crystal mining sandbox experience. The entire building and mining area have undergone a beautiful renovation.
  • Excellent guide. Take the long tour, it is worth it and otherwise will seem too quick!
  • Our family thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide, Justis, was great - we had some "unruly" children on our tour and he handled it perfectly. He was friendly and funny. Gift shop had great merchandise - not your usual "tourist crap". Facility very clean with friendly staff. Definitely recommend Black Hills Caverns!
  • Tour guide was great! One of the best cave viewings in the area.
  • Super awesome, would totally do this again!
