Where to stay in Rapid City

In Rapid City you'll find a variety of hotels and motels, but you can expect their rates to vary considerably depending on the season. Those located downtown provide easy walking access to some of the area's most popular restaurants and bars. Visitors wanting to explore the iconic Mount Rushmore or Custer State Park attractions may prefer the convenience of a hotel along Interstate 90. If you want a scenic escape, look for a bed and breakfast, campsite, or cabin in the surrounding Black Hills National Forest.

  • Free parking Free admission Great experience for both kids and adults Minimal walking Wheel chair and child stroller accessible I really appreciated and loved Art alley. The art work is unique and beautiful. I took so many photos and still wasn't able to capture every aspect of Art Alley. Art Alley is close to shopping, parking and restaurants. Easy to find via GPS
  • Always fun to walk through Art Alley since the scene is constantly changing. There's some really amazing murals. A lot of people use Art Alley as a backdrop for their photo shoots. More people need to respect the unspoken rule here of "don't paint over anything above your skill level" but even that speaks volumes of the local artists.
  • I like that the city of Rapid Hills gives street artists a place to express themselves. I wish other cities would do this. There is some very creative art here.
  • As part of our week in the Rapid City area we searched for art alley and we were not disappointed. It was at the end of May 2017 and some artist was busy stating on a new piece of art .
  • Interesting idea for a city "park". Overwhelming smell of garbage in alley was a turn off for me but some might say it adds to the urban feel of the place.
