  • Great fresh produce, plants, cut flowers, and honey! All grown in NC. Everyone is so friendly & helpful. On the premises is a seafood restaurant that has great fried seafood. Also on site are the market shops, in a climate controlled building. They have jams, jelly, locally made cheese, wine and bakery items. Also decorative crafts.
  • The restaurant is nice southern cooking with delicious biscuits! They have a great veggie omelette for the vegetarian in the group. If you go to the top most buildings there's a small vendor on the end that has the most delicious fresh squeezed lemonade but you should also add in Orange. It's so refreshing on those really hot days! Also, sample all the strawberries before you buy!
  • Hours of operation vary for the different sections. Market building is open from 5:30 AM to 5 PM, the fruit stand portion is open 8 AM to 5PM. Restaurant opens at 5:30 and the seafood restaurant opens at 11:00 AM to 8 PM. Website posted times are inaccurate too. Love this market. I come every time I'm in North Carolina. Great place to get tasty fruits, veggies, and other goods at reasonable prices.
  • A wealth of local produce and plants from spring through summer, the farmers market offers firewood, sweet potatoes, greens, preserves and more in the colder months, too! Baked goods are available, as well as everything from goat cheese to handmade soap in the buildings around the main site, and the market restaurant and NC seafood restaurant provide options if you're too hungry to wait until you can cook all your fresh produce! Parking can be absolutely chaotic on weekends and supplies of in-season specialties can run out, so get there early to avoid disappointment.
  • The food is great, the service is great, the portion sizes are on point & the prices are reasonable. We've gone here before and the line was out the door, but we waited no longer than 20mins. Its worth it though! The chicken & waffles are amazing!

Where to stay in Raleigh

Staying downtown provides the most convenient access to Raleigh's leading attractions. You'll find a couple of large, efficient hotels here--they feature a large volume of beds. The area around the North Campus of North Carolina State University lies just west of downtown and features a handful of additional hotels. A cluster of national chain hotels and motels lies in the midtown area north of downtown. There are a couple of bus lines that provide easy access to downtown from here, so this area serves as a suitable option if you cannot find accommodation in the city center. The intersection of I-440 and Route 70 to the northwest of downtown features numerous hotels and motels, but these largely cater to business travelers who require convenient access to both downtown and the airport.
