Where to stay in Raleigh

Staying downtown provides the most convenient access to Raleigh's leading attractions. You'll find a couple of large, efficient hotels here--they feature a large volume of beds. The area around the North Campus of North Carolina State University lies just west of downtown and features a handful of additional hotels. A cluster of national chain hotels and motels lies in the midtown area north of downtown. There are a couple of bus lines that provide easy access to downtown from here, so this area serves as a suitable option if you cannot find accommodation in the city center. The intersection of I-440 and Route 70 to the northwest of downtown features numerous hotels and motels, but these largely cater to business travelers who require convenient access to both downtown and the airport.

  • The walk around the lake is 2.2 miles. It is mostly in the sun there is some shade along the path. A lot of people were out walking here.  more »

  • Love taking our dogs walking around the lake on a sunny day along the trail. There is plenty to do with the fishing pier, bird watching, or open fields for lounging as well.  more »

  • great paved trail around lake. small playground fun but not shaded. restrooms inside community center.
  • Scenic. Simple. Quant. My kids love it. We bike there. My son loves the park. Good fishing though there weren't much biting.
  • Yes, a beautiful park but please keep the bathrooms clean. And maybe update them as well with automated toilets. I'm sure the investment will payoff vs. the smell that's a fairly regular feature.
  • The park is excellent. There is a lot of shade and you can walk/run pretty much anytime of the day.
  • There are always people here no matter the time of day, which only means that this is a good, popular park. The only thing I don't like is the excessive amount of duck droppings. I'm sure I'm not alone on that. I enjoy going on morning and evening runs here and seeing a few old friends from time to time
