  • This is a great historical home with a lot of character. The docents do a great job of sharing this family's history with you. There are so many special events here. A hidden gem for your family any t...  more »
  • More than a museum or 'old house tour' here. Make time to walk the ground and the gardens as well Considering the family was in the house until the 1960's it really gives one insight into Raleigh soci...  more »

  • We love this spot so much we got married here! Take a tour of the house and grounds, stroll the garden! Let your kids catch Pokemon!
  • This is a wonderful historical location in downtown Raleigh, but away from the hubbub of central downtown. There are trees! A bit more residential feeling. Property well maintained. We started there on a bus tour of the Dorothy Dix property so did not go into house. Other times have been there for Civil War reenactments, and the local Bluebird Society meets there. Well used, well maintained, loaded with history, and great to look at!
  • The experience was disappointing. The staff was not very helpful. We purchased tickets but were not told specifically where to go for the start of the tour. The tour started and we had to find the tour group which was led by a high school student. The lady that appeared to be the manager was not helpful either. Visiting from the DC area hoping to learn a bit about Southern history in NC, we felt like the remnants of the past were still in the air.
  • Interesting place if you're in to local history. I didn't like how several of the buildings were brought here from other locations though, kind of misleading
  • Great place to tour, and for a tour guide it's less than $10 per person. Can't beat that.
