  • Lake Johnson Park, Raleigh NC is a beautiful park that has a 3 mile long trail around Lake Johnson, nice parking and restroom facilities
  • This is a great place to run or take a walk with your family and pets. You can also get a paddle boat.
  • This is our favorite local park for a short hike. We normally take the 3-mile paved loop around the lake. It has some fairly challenging hills on one side and is mostly flat on the other side, with a ...  read more »
  • I've lived next to lake Johnson for several years now. The trailers are great to walk or run on. There is a completely paved trail and also trails that are more rugged but still very wide. There are Canadian geese there all summer long. You can rent a kayak or pedal boat at an hourly rate of around five dollars. There are also several picnic areas to enjoyed. Finding a place to park can be a challenge on the weekends if you have to drive there.
  • I have so many good things to say about Lake Johnson Park. The paved trail around part of the lake is perfect for running and walking - as long as you're fit enough to endure some pretty steep hills on one side of it! There are always people out and about, even in the rain, so it makes me feel safe to go run alone! There are water bowls out for the dogs at the center, which is great since there are always a ton of dogs there! The park is well maintained and always clean, and there are poo bags for cleaning up after your dog. There are picnic tables and benches around the pathways and a bridge you can fish off of! On the other side of Avent Ferry from the restrooms, there is an unpaved trail that's a lot less trafficked but very pretty and peaceful! There's a lot of parking but it can fill up especially on weekends.
  • Lake Johnson is a nice quiet space, tucked into the corner of Raleigh that folds into 40/440. Several paved trails run on the east side, and natural trials cover the west side (divided by Avent Ferry Rd.) Lots of folks casting off the pedestrian causeway. Boat rentals, picnic areas you can reserve/rent. Folks keep it clean in this park. Only downside is it can be challenging to park here on a nice day. If the lots off of Avent are full, you may want to try parking in the back gravel lot of Athens Drive High (end of Jaguar Park Dr, Raleigh, NC 27606.)
  • What a nice park! 🌲🌲Visited there very often when I was in NCSU. Park is clean and well maintained. Came here for fishing 🎣and jogging🏃. Beautiful park 🌷for all season!
  • Probably the best scenery in the area offering an amazing workout. Be sure to start at Walnut Creek Trail and work your way to the pedestrian walkway over lake Johnson the long way around 😃 You will thank me. Challenging workout: Centennial Trail starting at Lonnie Poole Golf course -- Lake Raleigh -- Walnut Creek Trail -- Lake Johnson Scenic Trail -- Kayaking at the lake.
