Dubbed "Vermont's Little Grand Canyon," Quechee Gorge features hikes down into the canyon or up to the bordering waterfalls for views of the surrounding area. Fish and canoe in the river, hike one of the marked trails, and go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in the winter. You'll have the option to cross the gorge using the suspension bridge or use the pedestrian walkways on both sides. Take time to climb along the boulders beside the river at the bottom of the path. Be sure to wear walking shoes or boots since the rocks can be uneven and slippery. Put Quechee Gorge on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Quechee day trip planning app.
Quechee Gorge reviews
Beautiful any season, especially in fall. Plenty of parking. Gift shop nearby. Not to far to village market as well which is a nice stop to pick up Vermont sundries. more »
This is the Grand Canyon of Vermont. Best to visit in the fall and can walk to the bottom. having been to the Grand Canyon of Arizona and surrounding areas, much prefer this Grand Canyon of... more »
The visitors center is currently closed but you can still walk the trail. A little past the center was a pull off area where you could park and walk to the bridge directly over the gorge. Great photo.... more »
Very scenic with gift shop and a great food shack
Great area. Bring some snacks and you can spend hours down at the bottom in the water.
The gorge is 165 feet below the bridge. Small rectangles cut in the fence along the bridge side to take your photos yet keep anyone from falling/jumping over. It’s a hike to the bottom and the hike back up may be too challenging for some.
A nice little hike down to the river bed. Interesting geology and history. Is smaller-shorter than appears from the bridge. Worthwhile visit from Woodstock VT.
BEAUTIFUL experience. I hope I make it back someday!
