  • Rode my bike through beautiful downtown Punta Gorda, past Shorty's Bar and at the very end, made a left and ended up here by accident. So many rescued birds, owls, herons, eagles along with turtles an...  more »
  • Very nice location along the water. We brought lunch and sat around a picnic table enjoying the view. People were fishing off a long dock along the canal enjoyed watching their catch.  more »
  • We almost always take visitors to the wildlife center. Injured birds are rehabbed and released back into the wild or kept permanently if their injuries are too great for them to survive alone. You hav...  more »

  • Wonderful place to visit! They rescue and rehabilitate wild Florida wildlife. Those that cannot be released stay at the sanctuary and help educate the public. The sanctuary has an amazing variety of birds and also several varieties of tortoise and even an opossum. Guides are very knowledgeable about all the wildlife and happy to explain and answer questions. If you are there at 2-2:30 you can watch them feed the pelicans, egrets and storks. A small donation is requested and it is well worth it. The center depends solely on donations for funding.
  • What a great place! A rain storm destroyed a nest with two baby doves in it. My wife and I heard the cries of the mother dove trying to protect her young from the driving rain. We placed the baby doves in a small box and brought them to the Peace River Wildlife Center. Their Amy took the birds and immediately put them in an incubator. They were in bad shape and I didn't think they would make it. A week later to our surprise they were doing great and will be released when they can fly. Thank you Peace River for all the great work you do !!
  • Terrific birds, eagles, osprey, pelicans, falcons, vultures, rare owls, and more. Some come and go, some are being rehabilitated could use assistance. A small donation is requested but it's worth it. Accross the small street is a walkway through mangroves you will see an assortment of birds, and, almost total quiet. Lots of trees and mangrove fauna. A small beach and cookout area, and fishing pier make it a good area to cook out with family locally. Staff at the sanctuary are very knowledgeable and a store sells trinkets and books. Not really any swimming but a great place to read a book.
  • I always visit this place when I am in Fl. They are doing an amazing job of caring for these animals and do their best to provide and help the animals recover to be able to thrive in the wild again. If not, the birds have a fantastic home at the center. The staff is caring and knowledgeable. I always enjoy myself and encourage everyone to visit and donate to help these amazing creatures! The gift shop has the most adorable stuff!
  • Fascinating fun to magical .. just depends on the day...time and weather ... this little rescue shelter does an amazing job and needs all the love it can get to pass on to the injured animals it serves. The park it's attached to is also worth the journey. .... hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
