Martin Stadium is an outdoor athletic stadium in the northwest United States, on the campus of Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. It is the home field of the Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12 Conference. Martin Stadium has used artificial turf since its inception; FieldTurf is its current playing surface.HistoryThe stadium is named after Clarence D. Martin (1886–1955), the governor of the state of Washington (1933–41), a former mayor of Cheney, and, ironically, a graduate of the University of Washington. His son, Dan (Clarence D. Martin, Jr., 1916–1976), made a $250,000 donation to the project in January 1972 under the stipulation that the stadium be named after his father. Additional gifts were continued by Dan's widow, Charlotte Martin.Martin Stadium opened on September 30, 1972, with a disappointing 19-point loss to Utah, then a member of the WAC, with 20,600 in attendance. Two and a half years had passed since the south grandstand of its predecessor, the wooden Rogers Field, was significantly damaged by fire, a suspected case of arson. The WSU Cougars played all of their home games at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane in 1970 and 1971. When it opened in 1972, only the south grandstand was new, the remaining seats from Rogers (north sideline, east end zone) were not yet replaced.Use our Pullman trip planner to visit Martin Stadium on your trip to Pullman, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.

Great place to watch a game. Plenty of restrooms and food vendors circle the stadium.

The last time I went down to a WSU Cougs football game in Pullman was Apple Cup 2012, where the Cougs were down 18 points and came back to win in overtime with a game winning field goal. What a great comeback win! GO COUGS!

not the largest, but so much fun. The excitement cannot be beat. Facilities are very nice. Parking can be a problem on game days but it is pretty easy to walk from almost any section of pullman.
