Where to stay in Providence

Most of the guest beds in Providence lie in and around downtown; this is the most convenient area to stay in during your visit. Right downtown you'll find a handful of large hotels from national chains. Rooms here can be pricey, but many offer sweeping views of Providence Harbor. Federal Hill features a few locally owned inns, bed and breakfasts, and small hotels in historical buildings. You'll find additional homey establishments around the State House just north of downtown and the College Hill area across the Providence River to the east. Avoid the South Providence area and East Providence across the Seekonk River.

  • We saw 'River Dance 20th Anniversary'. The show was hypnotic from the opening act until the closing curtain! I will never forget how mesmerized I was with the music, the dance, and the costumes. Every...  more »
  • Saw the Lion King here, and it was wonderful. Sat upstairs, had a great view. Drinks and snacks are available in the theater. Plenty of restaurants and bars in area.  more »
  • PPAC has a lot to offer with a lot of old style theater viewing. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. It is beautiful. There is gold all over the theater. They do serve alcoholic beverages ...  more »

  • Fantastic venue. Have been here to see RENT, The Lion King, and West Side Story and all three were great experiences. The venue has done an amazing job of renovating and maintaining the classic theatre feel while incorporating modern technology and accommodations. Food/drink is overpriced as you'd expect, but the staff is very friendly. Best theatre in RI in my opinion.
  • Great theater experience with a variety of performances coming through. Attendants are pleasant and helpful. Facilities and theatre appear well maintained. Comfy seating, although definitely tight with elbow room. Overall it's a great place for family or a date night.
  • Great venue. Watched The Lion King here. The ambiance and decor is amazing. My only complaint is that the seats are on the tighter side, close together and with little leg room. Tough for a taller guy like me.
  • Gorgeous theatre with a generous rush policy. Hampered by a notoriously rude clientele. Loud conversations, flash photography, and blatant cell phone use are all par for the course during shows here. During today's matilda, a lady in the loge took a flash photo in the middle of the show then proceeded to work with the photo on her phone full brightness for a solid 3 minutes
  • This was my first visit to PPAC we got to see The Lion King and it was a wonderful night! The theatre is absolutely beautiful
