  • There aren’t very many rooms but what they do have is very nice. My four year old had fun particularly in their outdoor play area where there are a series of tunnels they can play in and the water roo...  more »
  • What a lovely children's museum. So much to see, touch and do! If the kids gets antsy, there's even a small playground to give your child something else to do! Great for busy hands and feet! Great pla...  more »
  • Great place to take the kids or grandkids! The water room alone will keep them busy for hours! It can be very busy on a rainy day.  more »

  • We have been to many Children's Museums, and I have to say the staff at Providence Children's Museum were by far the most engaged. The started at entry with a "She's going to love it", to a meltdown eliminating sticker when it was time to leave, and just about every moment in between. The water room was wonderful and I had to coax my daughter of the room so she could enjoy the other areas. I noticed multiple employees wiping down and cleaning areas. Another performed active maintenance on a ship display without interrupting the children's use of the ship. We have family in the area and plan to make this a regular stop each time in the future.
  • Absolutely delightful! The water room was so much fun. The rooms to explore Providence's history were a lot of fun. The toddler area was a nice break. The staff weren't above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience in all the exhibits. We loved it!
  • This was a great experience! Only downside is there is no cafeteria so bring food. Kids of all ages can enjoy the exhibits and learn. We especially loved the water room!
  • We like this place so much, we've both the family membership. I would comment for those without a membership to keep an eye out for free Friday's. More than once I've seen this. I would also say that this children's museum more than others we've visited has a lot more fun stuff for kids under 3. It seems to me many places only cater to older kids, but Providence Children's Museum is for both younger and older.
  • Love bringing my boys here. So much to do, many hands on experiences with science, technology and social studies. A great way to spend an afternoon.

Where to stay in Providence

Most of the guest beds in Providence lie in and around downtown; this is the most convenient area to stay in during your visit. Right downtown you'll find a handful of large hotels from national chains. Rooms here can be pricey, but many offer sweeping views of Providence Harbor. Federal Hill features a few locally owned inns, bed and breakfasts, and small hotels in historical buildings. You'll find additional homey establishments around the State House just north of downtown and the College Hill area across the Providence River to the east. Avoid the South Providence area and East Providence across the Seekonk River.
