  • Went here with my dad and younger brother. It's a nice little museum, for Rhode Island it's exciting for my 8 year old brother. He loved it. Exhibits are very musty and dusty and old. All the information is very out of date. Floor creaks everytime you take a step. It made me very uncomfortable to walk through rooms full of taxidermied animals, as I'm a vegetarian and I love animals, it would be better if there were more physical artifacts in the natural history section. I hated that area. However, I loved the planetarium and the space exhibits, both were so cool!
  • Lovely small taxidermy collection with lots of Victorian charm. Only takes about about 1 hour to see it all. Nice rainy day alternative to the park, educational
  • This museum has so much to see! Low admission costs makes it worth repeated visits!
  • We are on vacation and drove 45 min to get there and hit traffic, so were about 2 min late and they told us that we were locked out and there was no way to let us in. There was only 1 other car in the parking lot we parked in, but they would let our group of 7 people in, most if which were kids. Nothing I said would change her mind. My kids were so disappointed!
  • Did not share that they were closed on for a holiday on Google Maps

Where to stay in Providence

Most of the guest beds in Providence lie in and around downtown; this is the most convenient area to stay in during your visit. Right downtown you'll find a handful of large hotels from national chains. Rooms here can be pricey, but many offer sweeping views of Providence Harbor. Federal Hill features a few locally owned inns, bed and breakfasts, and small hotels in historical buildings. You'll find additional homey establishments around the State House just north of downtown and the College Hill area across the Providence River to the east. Avoid the South Providence area and East Providence across the Seekonk River.
