Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is an Arkansas state park located next to Prairie Grove. It commemorates the Battle of Prairie Grove, fought December 7, 1862, in the American Civil War. The battle secured northwestern Arkansas for the Union.The portion of the park within a 64acre triangle formed by North Rd. on the NW and U.S. 62 on the S was first listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. The area of this district was increased in 1992 to and then again in 2005 to. Prominent features of the park include its battle monument, a chimney carefully relocated here from the site of a skirmish, and the Hindman Museum, bequested by Biscoe Hindman, the grandson of General Thomas C. Hindman who commanded the Confederate forces in the battle.The Prairie Grove Airlight Outdoor Telephone Booth, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is opposite the entrance to the park on U.S. 62.

  • Having not been in the South much it was very interesting to walk these trails. The interpretive center had some interesting exhibits and historical accounts. 
  • Great place to spend the day learning about history, having a picnic, taking a walk/run, letting the kids play! 
  • Labor Day Weekend Event and Pok√©mon Go stops. Carnival food, Craft Fair, Square Dance Competition. This is a big event in Prairie Grove, so big that the kids are out of school the next day. The histor...  more »

  • This place is absolutely wonderful. Filled, with so much history and beauty. For a history enthusiast who also love adventure and feeling like your actually stepping back in time, this place is a must to visit!
  • Nice park, free to go to, nice walking trails, beautiful historic houses and lots of photo opportunities
  • Great place to visit and learn some our history or go for a walk or a picnic
  • Theu do a good Halloween event that is family friendly and very informational
  • Wonderful events throughout the year, places to rent for private parties, beautiful walking trails and lots of history. Enjoy the Clothesline Fair with crafts and square dancing or one of the battle reenactments. Plenty to do here. The play equipment is newer and cared for and the park is clean. New bathroom facilities are wonderful.
