Chosen for the best zoo in the United States in 2009 by USA Travel Guide, Columbus Zoo hosts over 2.3 million visitors per year, and cares for more than 9,000 animals. For 15 years, it had been managed by Jack Hanna, the famous American zookeeper and TV personality. The zoo is divided into regions, where it houses animals from North America, the Polar Frontier, Asia, Africa, and Australia. It has aquariums, forests, and open plains. Take one of the tours to see what the zookeepers do, or hop on a train and ride around "North America". If you are interested in amusement rides, make sure to check it with the zoo about what is open on the day of your visit. Columbus Zoo Reviews
I was blown away by how impressive the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is. Ended up taking a really expensive uber there because my hotel was so far away, but it was worth it. Incredible animals, great buil... more »

We have visited four times since moving to the area. Our children, ages ranging 7-13, all enjoyed these visits. The African savanna is our favorite with a feeling of wide-open spaces, and yet, up-clos... more »
So much fun! Amazing place to be with family! Loved everything from the animals to the water park. The grounds are beautiful and the zoo has fun ways to interact. The only downside I found was the price, including the food and snacks. Even so, it's well worth the trip.
Amazing place for anyone of any age. There is so much fun for kids especially. Between seeing and learning about animals, there is several play areas, train rides, farm and letting all area my kids love to brush the goats and sheep. They also really love the pony rides. They now have a brand new dinosaur zoo area. We also love to go feed the birds and giraffes. I'm Africa near the lions their is a huge airplane to play on. We always complete out visit with Dip n Dots ice cream. My favorite activity I just learned of is over near polar bears there is a fun little gold mining adventure my children love, (I do as well).
I absolutely love this zoo. It is huge with so much to do. Lots of activities and hands on learning. Plenty of places to eat if you don't plan to pack and lots of restrooms. Be prepared to walk a bit. The exhibits are stretched out some but we didn't mind. My children had a blast and we will definitely be going back. The place is clean, fun, affordable, and the staff is very friendly.
We love the rides, the shows, the special attractions. Animal interaction is what makes it memorable so we try to look up any special activities for the day and attend those. Unfortunately if you buy anything, it's expensive. The zoo-it-all wristband makes for a great experience BUT a large family would have to pay a fortune. We buy the family plus membership so we can pack a lunch and make it a "free" entertainment family day BUT the zoo is NOT friendly to picnics and coolers. We take the bad with the good and enjoy the experience.
I haven't been to a lot of zoos lately but the Columbus zoo is a very nice zoo. The workers are very friendly and helpful. The animal exhibits are great. The most popular exhibit is the polar bears I would guess. They are a must see. The exhibit has an under water viewing area that is really cool. If you are living in the Columbus area and have children, a zoo membership is a must. if you plan to visit more than once a year then it will pay for itself. The wildlights display around Christmas time is always good too.
