(4.4/5 based on 1,800+ reviews on the web)
Chosen for the best zoo in the United States in 2009 by USA Travel Guide, Columbus Zoo hosts over 2.3 million visitors per year, and cares for more than 9,000 animals. For 15 years, it had been managed by Jack Hanna, the famous American zookeeper and TV personality. The zoo is divided into regions, where it houses animals from North America, the Polar Frontier, Asia, Africa, and Australia. It has aquariums, forests, and open plains. Take one of the tours to see what the zookeepers do, or hop on a train and ride around "North America". If you are interested in amusement rides, make sure to check it with the zoo about what is open on the day of your visit. • We had a corporate function at the Columbus Zoo. They handled it very well and we had exclusive use of the aquarium where we could touch various sea creatures. The meal and facilities were great.
  • Went to the zoo specifically to see Wild Lights. It had been snowing and, by the time we got there, the snow had turned to rain. Even despite the weather, the lights were beautiful.
