Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park reviews
I went for this little walk over the Hudson with my mom & sister about mid July, and the views did not disappoint. It was a little warm on this day but when you are on the bridge you get a nice cool..... more »
A very nice bridge to walk over and get a great view of the Hudson River. Plan for 1-2 hours and get your cameras ready. more »
The bridge is a nice walk (just about 1.5 miles across) and offers some nice views of the Hudson River. If you're a railfan this is a particularly nice walk as you get great views of the main lines... more »
The walkway was beautiful, clean and restrooms were well maintained. The view is awesome, especially for experiencing the sunset! I've been looking forward to this for a long time and came down from the Albany area today specifically to experience the walkway after dinner at the River Station. There are some things that could have improved the experience, for instance the walkway has a small, easily missed, sign for the closing time. In addition, I didn't see anything letting people know what time the last entry is, or should be. The bathrooms were locked before people were off the bridge, which could be difficult since people were told to turn back when they were almost all the way to the other side, so they were expecting to use the restroom upon their exit. All in all a cool opportunity to admire the environment and the city view.
What is there not to like about this place? Beautiful views, great way to get exercise. Price is right. They recently added bathrooms on each end, with A.C. Greatly appreciated that on a hot summer day! Very well maintained, very clean. Would go more often if it were closer.
This thing is MUST SEE for any visitor or anyone within driving distance. The views of the river and the gorge are spectacular, and it's way higher than you think. But what really interested me most was the aerial view of the neighborhoods the bridge passes over. It's really kind of weird and somewhat voyeuristic. Of course it didn't hurt that as I was crossing over I got lucky enough to see a cargo ship, an Amtrak train, and a freight train pass under. It was magical!
This was my first time here and I would recommend it to anyone. There are 360° views of the river and surrounding areas. The people people working here are very friendly and willing to answer any questions. Beautiful photo spot
Very nice area to check out. If you parked on the Poughkeepsie side of the river and you're I highly recommend going into the town of Highland in the other side and grabbing a bite to eat at one of there many mighty fine eateries such as Underground Coffee & Ales before you head back. If your in the mood for ice cream I highly suggest Frozen Caboose Ice Cream (also on the west side of the river).
