  • Great 9 min video then unstructured tour of submarine. Fun visit to Portsmouth with 12 and 9 year old kids. Perfect half day.  more »
  • I have done several sub tours before and this one was the most interactive. Actually got to try out a couple beds to see if I fit. Buttons played audio files with story of that part of the sub. Need t...  more »
  • The USS Albacore was a unique research submarine. The Servicemen on board were termed “The Astronauts of Their Time.” I’m not well versed in naval history or engineering, but the 2 hours I spent in th...  more »

  • Good little museum with reasonable prices. Website is not 100% up to date, when we went website said $14 for family, but price is now $16. Also, they are now open until 530pm, website said 4. These are all very minor details though. Its a nice little educational place to take the kids and learn a bit about our navy's past.
  • Now this is a nice stop the albacore has got so much history I give it 5 stars and tell you if you're in the area to please stop by. It is run a nonprofit organization, still cared for by the US Navy and gracefully attended to buy a volunteers. The albacore staff are full of information on her wonderful history, although I am a woman of peace and prefer peace over War this Little Submarine has helped us a lot with the future and safety of our submersible Navy men and women
  • A small history site that was kind of cool to explore! I wish there was more to it though. The tour of the submarine was neat, but wish there was more education to it. Definitely stop in for a visit though in staying in Portsmouth for a few days. Visited in June 2017.
  • Great place.. really gives you a perspective on just how small a submarine is. Living conditions are tight..one can only image the noice equally unpleasant. Isolation, odors.. tough life. Respect for submariners.
  • This is a great place to learn some history and have some fun. There is a small museum with lots of information and details about the Albacore. We were able to walk through the sub on a self guided tour and were able to see what it was like for the men on the sub. It was amazing to see what the inside of the sub looked like and how the men lived their daily lives. There is also a nice little park area to walk through.
