  • I am from a Western Pacific family. My Mother was the western Pacific seamstress in Oakland, California. She sewed up all the sheets and pillow cases. She sewed up everything that needed it, the waiters jackets Etc. Etc. She was outstanding. Time periods mid 1940s to late 1950s. My stepfather was Al Alphonso Green he became the Head Waiter for the Executives and Presidents on the Executives private car. He started working (W.P.) in the 1930s. He was a great cook. He retired in the 1960s. I learned a lot from him. He was a hard disciplinarian. Very hard! I have information about him. Letters from his Bosses. Union letters and booklets. I enjoyed the train rides. I remember a day when I stuck my foot out and tripped a waiter carrying a tray of food. I got good whipping for that. I about 7 years old. A regular Dennis the Menzies. The old buildings have been torn down. The main post office sits on the area in West Oakland.
  • This has been one of my best locations to visit. If you love trains or you would like to learn more of there California history this is the place to visit. Be ready for a full days entertainment. The staff are very informative and love there work. Tom
  • Great place for kids and for learning about trains. Winter hours from Nov-March means train station is closed. April and March have limited hours.
  • A very well respected railroad and very friendly people who love what they do
  • Awesome Hands on Museum. Lots of trains to see and play with. For the right price you can even drive one. Highly recommended for anyone seeking adventure
