Willamette Valley, Portland

4.6
A fertile valley just outside Portland, Willamette Valley cultivates Christmas trees, hazelnuts, beer, and wine. Located along the Oregon Trail, the valley and its rich soil became part of the Oregon Territory. Drive through scenic rolling hills and stop at microbreweries and wineries, such as the Coelho Winery. The warm summers and cool winters play a role in the agricultural richness of the area. Because of the inviting climate and other features, 70 percent of the state's population calls the area home. • I recommend trying out this valley too! Really great pinot noir, the tastings aren't cheap but it's always a fun experience. The rolling hills remind me a little of Tuscany. Check it out. It's only ab...  more »

  • I love it here. Mild weather most of the year. Usual lots of greenery to see and there's tons of outdoor rec stuff to do. Easy access to the Cascade mountains and all sorts of rec activities. And also easy access to the Pacific coast to go play in the cold ocean.
  • This place is incredible for wine. All of the wines are great! A lot of places waive the tasting fee if you buy some wine.
  • The great green Willamette Valley all set- about with Douglas Fir trees. One of, if not the best places to live and thrive
  • Lovely, temperate climate. The valley is protected by the the Coastal range on the west, the Cascades on the East. There are cool parks/forests and cities to visit. There's also a lot of industry, so if the winds aren't right, the air pollution is problematic. I think it's hilarious that I can review Willamette Valley! It's a really big, varied place from Portland to Eugene.
  • If you enjoy the outdoors then this is your valley. Rivers, hiking, nearby skiing, bigger cities for nightlife. The only downside is the expectation of rain every couple days. Minimal snow yearly.
