Willamette Valley, Portland

4.6
#2 of 17 in Scenic Drive in Oregon
A fertile valley just outside Portland, Willamette Valley cultivates Christmas trees, hazelnuts, beer, and wine. Located along the Oregon Trail, the valley and its rich soil became part of the Oregon Territory. Drive through scenic rolling hills and stop at microbreweries and wineries, such as the Coelho Winery. The warm summers and cool winters play a role in the agricultural richness of the area. Because of the inviting climate and other features, 70 percent of the state's population calls the area home. • I recommend trying out this valley too! Really great pinot noir, the tastings aren't cheap but it's always a fun experience. The rolling hills remind me a little of Tuscany. Check it out. It's only ab...  more »

  • The Willamette Valley is very beautiful. I was born and raised here and feel very fortunate for that. I love all the green trees and all the good tasting natural water.
  • A beautiful hiking path. The path off of Quartz Park is an easy trail. Great for beginners and children.
  • In spite of the fact that the Native Americans used to call it "The Valley of Death", the Willamette Valley is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The rivers and farm land, as well as the forests, really make it unique. People are friendly there like nowhere else.
  • Seriously? A ravine? This is the fertile and flat valley of the Willamette River, which flows north to Portland, where it empties into the mighty Columbia. I live here, and I love it. (Except for the grass pollen and the wildfire smoke and the neighbor's wet firewood.)
  • I'm 62, and have lived in quite a few places and this is one of the nicer places overall!! Weather isn't to bad, people are pretty nice, access to outdoor activities available all over the place, and the greenery ( herbal ) is top-notch (5*) that's ( 5 star )!!! Couldn't hardly ask for more!!!
