  • Great for running and mountain biking. Sometimes the bike route to get there can get a bit shady, but the park is mostly safe. The trails are great and the views are wonderful. It's a neat little ecosystem not often found in Portland with the prairie atmosphere. Take a trip here and enjoy the fresh air!
  • Truly beautiful park. All the trails here were recently redone and the main trails are all well paved. You can bring dogs, horses, and bikes. Dogs need to be kept on-leash though, so more of hiking experience than 1000 acres. There is a beautiful main visitor center with education on the reservoir and bathrooms. The whole place is beautiful, and on clear days you will have an amazing view. There's a lot of trail variety as you get further into the park, and it will take many trips to explore entirely! A great gem.
  • Within the outskirts of East County Portland, lies this little gem of a butte. With a multitude of trails to hike/run, bike, and horseback it is handy to get in a quick nature fix. It was remodeled after the construction of a water storage tank and I must say, it is quite impressive in how they've arranged the trails and the new visitors center. There are views of the various mountains and buttes surrounding the area. Dogs are allowed on leash. There is ample parking and restroom facilities. Enjoy but please remember to maintain the beauty of Powell Butte.
  • I walk here often and I love everything about this place. Moderately hills on some trails, flat on others. Parking lot and restrooms are recently remodeled and the trails are well maintained. This is a nature park and you can see bird watchers early, deer under the trees, coyotes, a fox once rabbits a plenty. Wintertime brings the forlorn cry of the East wind and on clear days 5 mountain peaks can be seen. Word- this is a nature park, please keep your pets leashed and clean-up after them.
  • Nicely maintained park. Many different hiking trails, with different difficulty levels. Great place to get some time with nature and the family without having to travel to far from home (if you live in SE PDX). Visitor Center is a nice touch; beneficial information on the park's history, current function(s), and a welcome navigation(map) of trails available
