Peninsula Park is a public park in Portland, Oregon. The 16.27acre park is located in the North Portland neighborhood. In 2007, area residents started to propose a piece of public art be added to the park honoring Rosa Parks, as the park lies along Rosa Parks Way.Rose gardenPeninsula Park became the city's first public rose garden in 1909 when it was purchased for $60,000 with funds raised in a 1908 bond measure. Designed by Emanuel L. Mische, the two-acre garden contains 5,700 roses featuring 75 varieties. The official rose of Portland, named Mme. Caroline Testout, was cultivated at Peninsula Park. In 1913, the park was chosen as the location for an annual rose show, where it remained until Washington Park was selected as the location of the International Rose Test Garden in 1917.

  • I lovedddddd this Rose Garden. Oh the aroma of roses was indeed in the air. They were so many different colors and a nice fountain in the middle. They have benches on the outside of this huge circle. We sat for a while and enjoyed the nice breeze and smell. It's right next to a park so a great place to take the family if visiting. They have grads walkways were you can take a closer look at the flowers. I snapped a few photos on my journey. This was recommended to us by a local resident.
  • This place is gorgeous. The park is big for people to have picnics, a large playground for kids, fields, tennis courts, and basketball court. There is a very large fountain in the middle of the rose garden where kids were splashing around. This is the original rose garden before they opened the one in Washington Park. People even set up blankets and picnics on the side of the rose garden paths.
  • I grew up going to this park. It has had a lot to offer over the years. The Rose Garden is gorgeous! It was where they originally did the princess coronation.
  • Beautiful park next to lovely rose gardens. Lots of space for kids to play. Splash pad open when it's hot
  • Pretty neat park. Lots of thing for kids to do. Also has a pool and a small water park for littles. Thats only on the one side. The other side has a small rose garden and a fountain that kids can dip in.
