In this district just north of downtown, you can see many of Portland's iconic spots, such as Powell's City of Books. Free outdoor concerts and festivals often fill the parks. Ecotrust offers live shows and workshops daily, which are very affordable, if not free. Consider riding the Portland streetcar to get here from the downtown area.   • Fun place to stroll. Small kids might not enjoy it but teens and up will find something to buy and eat. 
  • If you're in Portland you will hear about it and Powell Books is there plus various good restaurants, galleries, and shopping. You should go see it.
